David Campo, founder and designer of Nezumi, has been a classic watch enthusiast for as long as he can remember. Of Spanish and Swedish heritage, David spent most of his youth in the United States before later settling in Sweden. Those formative years shaped his passion for music, classic cars, and fashion. The 80s and 90s he spent in the US had a lasting impact, particularly through skateboarding, heavy metal music, and fashion. His friend’s father, renowned stage clothing tailor Ray Brown, was a key inspiration behind David’s interest in fashion design.
While David holds a degree in art direction, he built his career as a designer and creative director within the international fashion industry from the early 2000s onward. The urge for autonomy eventually led him to create Nezumi in 2011. It began as a side project focused on denim and leather products, which transitioned to watches in 2015 — a pivotal moment that prompted David to dedicate himself fully to Nezumi.
A lifelong passion for watches, coupled with familial ties to watchmaking, culminated in David’s first watch design, the Voiture, which gained significant traction through Kickstarter. This marked the beginning of Nezumi’s ascent, with subsequent timepieces reflecting David’s eclectic taste for aesthetics and visuals.

ASSEMBLED IN GERMANY
We take great pride in that all our watches are designed and engineered from the ground up in Sweden by David Campo. Assembly, quality control and testing is done in Germany by our highly skilled partners whom also work with some of the biggest brands in the world of horology. Our movements of choice are made in Japan by Miyota and Seiko respectively, although our 10th anniversary limited edition Voiture chronograph was powered by a Sellita SW510 manual wind movement. Our premium leather straps are made in Germany.

The origin of our name
The name Nezumi is inspired by Nezumi Kozō (real name Nakamura Jirokichi), a figure from Japanese folklore known for outsmarting authority and redistributing wealth to those in need — often described as a Japanese Robin Hood.
His story reflects an independent spirit and a belief in challenging convention. That perspective continues to influence the brand today, alongside an ongoing commitment to supporting wildlife preservation initiatives, animal rescue organisations, and conservation efforts worldwide.
